We are excited to share some great news from Parkland at the Common. Our very own Parkland Pacers are getting ready to take part in the Bluenose Marathon on May 17.
Recently featured on CTV News, this inspiring group of residents has been training together for months, led by fellow resident Rod McCullough, one of the original founders of the Bluenose Marathon. For many of the walkers, this will be their first time ever participating in a marathon distance.
Their journey began shortly after moving to Parkland at the Common in late 2025. With support from the community and Parkland’s Harmony Wellness Program, the group started small with a one kilometre walk and gradually built their distance week by week. By April, they completed a full 10-kilometre route through Halifax, taking on hills, sidewalks, and even the climb to the top of Citadel Hill.
Along the way, they found more than physical strength. They built friendships, confidence, and a shared sense of purpose. Their experience is a reminder that staying active is not just about fitness, but about connection and feeling supported.
Across Parkland Retirement Living and Lifestyle Residences, residents are encouraged to follow what interests them, try new experiences, and set personal goals within welcoming and supportive communities. Parkland offers a range of lifestyle options designed to support every stage of life, including Independent Lifestyle Apartments, All‑Inclusive Lifestyle, and Supportive Lifestyle.
