Meet Eunice Young, a resident from Parkland Cape Breton who first moved to the community as a short-term stay and enjoyed it so much that she decided to make it her permanent home.

What do you think of Parkland so far?

Eunice: It’s one of the best places I’ve been in. I enjoy everybody’s company, everybody is friendly and for me its home away from home. I really feel that way now I’ve made a lot of friends since I’ve been in here this short time, so I’m very happy to be here.

Why did you decide to move to Parkland permanently?

Eunice: It’s like a family here. We really are a family. I enjoy all the company of the women that I’ve met and after being here a month I made up my mind that this is the place for me. I’m really happy here.

Are you happy you made the decision to come to Parkland?

Eunice: I’m very happy I made that decision. It took about a month for me to socialize with everybody and I’m very happy to be here. I’m comfortable, feel safe and everything seems to be what I wanted. I’m very happy I’m here and made that decision. I didn’t think it was going to be that way, but this is the way it turned out. I was very nervous coming in – I didn’t know if I would like it or not but after two or three weeks and everybody tapping you on the shoulder asking you if you’re staying I knew this was the place for me. It’s just like a family here. It’s my family now.
