Over 24 years ago, Parkland Riverview – Royal Court resident, Sister Marie Saulnier, had a dream. Wanting to truly make a difference in the lives of others, she decided to establish Busy Hands, a non-profit group that would donate all its proceeds from their sales to local charities. But that’s not all. She wanted to be able to earn $100,000 from the proceeds of selling crafts which was donated to a number of causes to help those in need.
This was a big goal, and with the help of those around her, last December, Sister Marie surpassed her goal. To date, Busy Hands has donated $100,199.71 to local charities.
This year, she will be donating $1,000 to each of the following organizations:
- Salvation Army
- Moncton Head Start
- Peter McKee Food Bank
- Albert House
Sister Marie is a true leader, and she gets help from some of the Sisters of Les Filles de Jesus and other friends in the community.
“I love to help. It makes me happy and gives me peace to be able to do my part,” she said with a smile.
This dream of hers could not have been made possible without the support of the people who give her items to sell, and of course, she would like to thank everyone who purchases items from her.
Thank you, Sister Marie, for being so kind-hearted and generous. Keep up the good work!
