More Time for What Matters: A Peek into Life at Parkland Ancaster

October 20, 2026 Always Parkland

What if moving to a retirement community didn’t mean slowing down, but having more time for the things and people you love?

A recent visit from CHCH Morning Live offered a glimpse into life at Parkland Ancaster, and one thing became clear: residents aren’t giving things up. They’re gaining opportunities, friendships and freedom from the tasks they’d rather leave behind.

Take Judy, for example.

“When I saw Parkland Ancaster, I knew it was the place for my husband and I to move,” she shared.

As it turns out, she wasn’t the only one.

After making the move herself, Judy told friends about her experience. Before long, familiar faces started arriving. A former colleague here, longtime friends there. Even neighbours from her previous community now live nearby. Today, many of those same friends gather for meals, activities and celebrations together.

That sense of connection is something residents often mention when describing life at Parkland Ancaster. Whether it’s meeting friends for coffee, joining a fitness class or gathering for a dinner party, there are plenty of opportunities to stay social and engaged.

“The first thing I did when I moved to Griffin was have a wine and cheese with a dozen girls,” she said, recalling one of her first get-togethers with neighbours.

Of course, life at Parkland Ancaster is about more than a busy social calendar.

Residents can start the day with yoga, take a dip in the pool, walk the beautiful grounds or spend time on the putting green. Activities are shaped by residents’ interests and feedback, creating a lifestyle that’s anything but one-size-fits-all.

For some residents, that means filling their calendar with classes and events. For others, it means enjoying the comfort and privacy of a spacious apartment, while knowing dining, housekeeping and additional support services are available if and when they’re needed.

And if you’re wondering whether there’s enough to do, Judy has an answer for that, too.

“There are so many amenities and so many activities,” she laughed. “Sometimes they conflict and some people are upset because they can’t do both at the same time.”

Now that’s a good problem to have!
