Our History

Roots dating back to 1988
Since 1988, our organization has been family-owned and operated, built on a strong foundation of Great People and inspired by those we serve. We’re leaders, innovators, and trusted partners, and we are committed to evolving to support clients and communities. What began in long term care expanded to provide independent, all-inclusive and supportive lifestyles for retirees.
In 2010, responding to the needs and requests of residents and their families, Shannex began Care at Home, an in-house care agency to support residents in a Shannex Enhanced Care or Parkland Retirement Living community in Halifax. For 15 years, we’ve seen increasing demand from those living in community, people who have told us they want what we do but they’d prefer to stay home a little longer.
So now we have rebranded our mobile workforce previously known as Care at Home to Parkland at Home, and we are energized with a new mandate to bring home and health services to the broader community beyond Halifax into other regions where we operate in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Ontario.
Our mission remains the same: helping people live well, independently, and safely at home.
