Bob and Daphne will tell you the best way to get started is by jumping right in\u2014and that\u2019s exactly what they did when they connected over their love of art and sharing their talents with others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\" https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/n7ur7It1qJQ?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/center>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to a lengthy career in electronics, since 1989 Bob has been a fixture in the local art community, teaching hundreds of people ranging in age from young adults to students in their nineties. &nbsp;\u201cSeeing them grow, never having painted in their life and then going on to have their own displays, I just loved it\u201d he says. \u201cIt was very fulfilling.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/experienceparkland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2021-07-highres-deancas_DTC1966-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6780\" srcset=\"https:\/\/experienceparkland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2021-07-highres-deancas_DTC1966-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/experienceparkland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2021-07-highres-deancas_DTC1966-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/experienceparkland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2021-07-highres-deancas_DTC1966-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/experienceparkland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2021-07-highres-deancas_DTC1966-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/experienceparkland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2021-07-highres-deancas_DTC1966-2048x1366.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Bob\u2019s artistic talents are vast and can stop someone in their tracks\u2014like an iconic CN train featured in his collection. Like any true artist, he approached a new canvas with an open mind. What he didn\u2019t know was that Daphne, a Wellness Coach and professional artist, was already thinking about ways to help Bob feel at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI have been an artist for most of my life and had seen Bob\u2019s art displayed in galleries before,\u201d says Daphne, a certified personal trainer and a fine arts graduate from the University of Ottawa. \u201cWhen I heard he was coming I got very excited to have a gentleman with talent like his in our community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/experienceparkland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2021-07-highres-deancas_DSC0984-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6705\" srcset=\"https:\/\/experienceparkland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2021-07-highres-deancas_DSC0984-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/experienceparkland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2021-07-highres-deancas_DSC0984-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/experienceparkland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2021-07-highres-deancas_DSC0984-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/experienceparkland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2021-07-highres-deancas_DSC0984-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/experienceparkland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2021-07-highres-deancas_DSC0984-2048x1366.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As she does with every new resident, Daphne sat down with Bob when he arrived to learn about his <a href=\"https:\/\/experienceparkland.com\/health-and-wellness\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wellness priorities and interests<\/a>. \u201cIn my role I get to learn a little bit about each resident\u2019s background, their history, and any hobbies they have,\u201d she says. \u201cI try to incorporate something for each resident into our <a href=\"https:\/\/experienceparkland.com\/health-and-wellness\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">programming <\/a>so everyone feels welcome and at home.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not surprisingly, Bob and Daphne\u2019s conversation landed squarely on a shared love of art, which led to a collaborative program for residents of <a href=\"https:\/\/experienceparkland.com\/locations\/parkland-on-the-river\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Parkland on the River<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s been partially our design and partially what the residents want to do,\u201d says Daphne, noting her and Bob take turns leading the group. \u201cSeeing residents get involved with an activity I\u2019ve created is so rewarding, I really look forward to coming to work every day.\u201d&nbsp;
