Residents at Parkland on the Glen escaped to Greece for the day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everyone\u2019s life is\u202fvastly different\u202fdue to the\u202fCOVID-19 pandemic.\u202fSocial distancing,\u202fgathering limits\u202fand\u202fface\u202fmasks\u202fare just a few of the\u202frestrictions that people across the world\u202fare abiding by to help combat the virus.\u202fOne\u202fthing that many people are missing\u202fespecially during the\u202fcold\u202fwinter\u202fmonths,\u202fis non-essential travel.\u202fAmanda\u202fTaurins, Recreation and Wellness Manager at Parkland on the Glen\u202fhelped residents travel to\u202fGreece\u202fleaving their homes.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe started the day\u202fby\u202fgiving residents an activity booklet. It was all Greece themed items like a word search\u202fand trivia,\u201d says Amanda. At lunch, residents picked their meal from a Greek-inspired menu.\u202f\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn the afternoon we dressed up as flight attendants\u202fand made name badges that said Parkland United Airways,\u201d says Amanda. \u201cWe then\u202fwent around for all residents, knocked on the door and offered them an in-flight snack of trail mix or cookies for their flight to Greece. The\u202fresidents\u202fabsolutely loved it.\u201d\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the in-flight snack, residents went down for dinner and enjoyed another Greek-inspired menu including a special dessert. After the meal, residents went back to their suites\u202fand\u202fwere asked\u202fto put on the Parkland TV channel which\u202ffeatured a\u202ftravel\u202fvideo giving a tour of Greece.\u202f\u202f\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Greece-themed day was a huge success among residents and employees and they\u2019re looking forward to doing it again.\u202fAs for their next\u202fdestination, Amanda\u202fsays the team is planning a trip to Ireland.\u202fBon, voyage! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
