These lasting contributions have led Sr. Marie to a nomination for a Shannex Cares Award for Community Impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sr. Marie is the founder of Parkland Riverview\u2019s \u201cBusy Hands\u201d volunteer group, creating and selling knitted and crocheted items as a fundraiser supporting local non-profit organizations like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.petermckeecentre.ca\/\">The Peter McKee Food Bank<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/hospicesenb.ca\/\">Hospice Southeast New Brunswick<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rayofhopemoncton.ca\/\">Ray of Hope Soup Kitchen<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/vitalitenb.ca\/fr\/\">Centre Excellence NB R\u00e9seau Sant\u00e9 Vitalit\u00e9<\/a>. Founded in 2000, she has led this group in donating more than $100,000 over the year, making a lasting impact on the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sr. Marie dedicates countless hours volunteering with Busy Hands, often spending time each day working on new items. Her apartment has been described as similar to Santa\u2019s workshop, filled with yarn, tools, and art supplies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This initiative not only contributes to the community through donations but also offers connection, belonging, and cognitive activities to fellow Parkland Riverview residents. Sr. Marie has always been seen as a kind soul who loves to help. Through Busy Hands, she has found a way to help other residents find a sense of purpose and feel welcomed when they enter the community. Busy Hands offers members to contribute in whatever way they can. Whether they enjoy knitting, crocheting, and crafting, or organizing and helping sell the products, Sr. Marie finds a way to include everyone in this project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the years, Sr. Marie has formed a community of volunteers. All group members desire to stay busy and love the idea of doing so while supporting charities. Sr. Marie\u00a0has built relationships with people outside of Parkland Riverview who regularly drop off yarn and other supplies to support operations. When people in the community come across clothing, toys, or other items they think can be rejuvenated and sold, Sr. Marie always comes to mind and will happily work her magic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Parkland, we are committed to supporting residents in pursuing their goals, hobbies, and achievements. We believe that with the right encouragement and opportunities, residents can continue to grow, learn, and pursue their goals and passions. Sr. Marie\u2019s journey serves as a powerful reminder of how meaningful support can empower individuals and turn their talents into impactful contributions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sr. Marie\u2019s generous contributions to our community, through her crafting, dedication, and leadership, are truly outstanding.
