Phillip Mallory, resident at <a href=\"https:\/\/experienceparkland.com\/en\/locations\/parkland-riverview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Parkland Riverview<\/a> is alumni at the University of New Brunswick who loves to tell stories and talk to new people.&nbsp;Many of our residents like Phillip Mallory, are storytellers, teachers, painters, writers, jokesters, each sharing their unique gifts and stories. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflecting on his journey, Phillip shares, \u201cI have nothing but gratitude for the wonderful people and experiences that have shaped me.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A member of the graduating class of 1978, Phillip earned his Bachelor of Education in Elementary School while also completing Master credits along the way. Despite challenges, continued his journey in academia and achieved his Teacher\u2019s Principal Certificate.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:41px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<p>Before embarking on his educational career,&nbsp;Phillip discovered his love for painting at Mount Allison University. \u201cI was fortunate enough to have a truly inspiring teacher who nurtured my passion,\u201d he recalls.&nbsp;He even sold his artwork at a local caf\u00e9, where he met a woman with a shared interest in painting.&nbsp;He then taught her at his home and the caf\u00e9, and she is now a world traveler teaching in different countries.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/experienceparkland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/P-Mallory-Artwork-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14869\" srcset=\"https:\/\/experienceparkland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/P-Mallory-Artwork-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/experienceparkland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/P-Mallory-Artwork-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/experienceparkland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/P-Mallory-Artwork-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/experienceparkland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/P-Mallory-Artwork-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/experienceparkland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/P-Mallory-Artwork-2048x1536.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:44px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Phillip learned a lot during his time in school and is still learning from the people around him. \u201cMy daughter has a BA in psychology, and she told me to never think negatively from my past. It has worked wonderfully to think positively. I had wonderful people around me at UNB, amazing teachers, and I am very grateful with the experiences I had.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After graduating from UNB, Phillip taught for 32 years in public schools primarily focused on social studies, special education, and core French. \u201cStudents thought I was easy going, but I always just followed my heart and did the right thing.\u201d Phillip says. When he decided to retire in New Brunswick, he was a supply teacher for another year.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI now enjoy the comfort of my studio apartment at Parkland where I watch the crows and take in the great views,\u201d says Phillip. Phillip moved to Parkland a year ago and has since found a sense of community and safety.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With <a href=\"https:\/\/experienceparkland.com\/en\/discover-the-flavours-of-parkland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">delicious meals<\/a>, transportation services and care and support, Parkland is a place where residents can feel at home.&nbsp; Phillip spends his day talking to fellow residents and team members in the lobby.
